The Mature Athlete

Mature athletes have special exercise considerations due to the effects of aging on muscle and joint tissue. Aging tendons and ligaments are subject to vascular and compositional changes that alter their healing and rehabilitative capacity as well as function. The rotator cuff, ACL, Achilles tendon, quadriceps tendon, and patellar tendon are areas that are especially challenged with advancing age.
